IHC High Performance Athlete Development Funding

Presented by Island Horse Council in partnership with the Government of PEI

In an effort to support athletes pursuing high performance results at nationally sanctioned competitions, Island Horse Council is offering a limited number of grants for athletes to attend approved athlete development training camps. This funding is available until March 31, 2026.

The training camp must meet the following minimum criteria:

    • The clinician must be NCCP certified and/or hold EC Licenced coach status, or have related experience coaching high performance riders in the discipline
    • Training Camp must be advertised and open to all
    • Training Camp Participants must be accepted on a first come, first served basis

* “High performance” for this funding program is based on the intention and capability to perform and achieve results at nationally sanctioned competitions in 2026.

Grants will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. A request for the funding must be submitted to and approved by IHC and should include:

    • Format, Discipline, and Date of training camp
    • Coach/Clinician name and credentials
    • Athlete’s Yearly Training Plan or at minimum, details outlining athlete’s high-performance plans in 2026

Athletes may apply for up to 50% of expenses associated with eligible athlete development camps, up to a maximum of $150 per training camp. IHC reserves the right to determine what percentage they will approve or to deny an application.

Discipline specific minimum levels to be accepted:

    • Dressage: 1st level and above – EC Gold
    • Hunter/Jumper: 0.9m and above – EC Bronze, Silver, Gold
    • Eventing: EV90 and above – EC Bronze, Silver, Gold
    • Western: Competing at AQHA, NRHA, or similarly recognized affiliations

Funding for approved camps will be issued to the athlete directly upon receipt of proof of attendance.
